Shabby Chic Banner

My crafting has taken a back seat to all the house fix-ups we've been doing. So I was VERY excited when I was able to combine my craftiness AND fix up my guest room space all at the same time. When I was cruising the internet about a week ago, I found this really cute banner and class being offered by Donna Salazar . Such a cute little "Dream" banner. Got me thinking.... what a cute idea for my 2nd Guest room. A very sweet lady, (Hi Bette and thanks again!), gifted me a lovely full size white iron bed. Its going to be the focal point of the room. Found some really cute bedding on E-bay, a cute little rug from Ross and using some old photographs, vases, etc. I'm transforming the room into the cutest little guest room you ever saw! Now, on to the banner..... And here is how this adorable banner looks all put together. And look at these! Yesterday's trip to Ross "scored" me a couple of really cute vases with a rose on them. $8.99.... gotta LOVE that price!

My Good Friend Earlene

Last night I had a real treat.... a visit with my childhood friend, Earlene. We met in 6th grade in Winslow, AZ and were friends until my parents moved to Barstow, CA during Easter vacation, 1971. Our friendship spanned those critical years between childhood and early adolescence. Those special years where all of a sudden, boys started to look pretty good, we went to our first school dance and learned how to rotate through classes in Winslow Jr. High School. I haven't seen Earlene since I left back in 1971, that would be 39 years ago!! You can imagine.... we had a LOT of catching up to do. So let me back up a bit... as I was growing up, I always imagined myself married to a handsome cowboy, riding horses, gardening and living out in the country, WAY out in the country. My parents were "city folk", but I always saw myself differently. Earlene's family was the closest thing to that I knew back in Winslow. Her mom was a stay at home mom that cooked, had "pets"

Spring Has Sprung!!

Wow, it's been SO long since my last post. I've been busy, VERY BUSY!! Do you remember last year when I chose my Word for the Year ..... Re-create? Well, that is exactly what I have been doing! Shortly after the first of the year, we began work on a dining room door that was rotting out. The new door led to a new and BEAUTIFUL wood floor, new dining room furniture and paint. That looked so pretty we decided to extend the wood floor into our living room as well, which, you guessed it, has now also gotten a new "feature" put into it to help with an ugly stair situation we had and will also have some new furniture. I'll be sharing the "before and after" with you in another post. I can say everything feels so fresh and new. I'm loving the place I live in! I've learned that to "recreate" you have to really dig out the old, sometimes down to it's most basic parts, mend those things that aren't quite right or are broken, things are str
