A New Color

The finish on my " Craigslist Bed" is beautiful but kind of "cold" don't you think? It's a white finish with an almost silver blue marbling. I LOVE the "bones" of this bed frame, but I'm not entirely in love with the color. So I've been hunting for a new color to paint it and today... I think I found it! Oh yeah! This is more like it.... warm, inviting, rich... This is THE PERFECT color to paint the iron bed in my guest room! Antique Brush Gold. That warm hue on the cold iron.... DELICIOUS!

I've been a BUSY girl!

So busy in fact that I've been really, REALLY bad about posting here. Some things I've been doing... Sewing ... I've finished nearly 4 crib size quilts since January and I'm working on the 5 th now. (I'll share some pictures when I get them uploaded) Crafting with Paper ... A little (long overdue!) banner for my grand-daughter Hannah's room. Ribbon will be strung through the back, each "flag" will be joined together with a bow and it will be hung on the wall of her little nursery. Hopefully I'll be able to share a picture of that when I'm done. Baking ... Mostly experimenting with bread lately. I love the smell and aroma of fresh baked bread, don't you? Cracked Wheat Sourdough Yummy Pretzels! OK, I need to stop right her or my computer will need to be fixed from all the drooling I'm doing!! Gardening .... A full bed of zuchinni , yellow and pattypan squash and Shelling peas. We also had a bumper year of Ollallieberries , Strawberries...

And Our Family Grows Some More

Spring moves into Summer and with the change, the beginnings of brand new life. So it is in our family. In May, we were told there would be two new little ones joining our ever growing family. Melody , Mike and their son, Anthony, will welcome a little girl in November, and our Son and Daughter-In-Law, Kristen, will be having their baby shortly after the New Year.... so shortly in fact that the baby may be a New Year's Baby! It's too early to know what she is having but we will be making the trip to My First Peekaboo in Santa Barbara around the middle of July to find out. If you live anywhere within driving distance to Santa Barbara, I HIGHLY recommend you make an appointment with Anna for the 3D and 4D Ultrasounds! The price is right and she offers money saving packages for every budget. Exciting times! {Kristen & Wes' New Baby} {Melody & Mike's New Baby Girl} On a slightly different note, I'd like to do a quick update on all the recreating we've been ...

Shabby Chic Banner

My crafting has taken a back seat to all the house fix-ups we've been doing. So I was VERY excited when I was able to combine my craftiness AND fix up my guest room space all at the same time. When I was cruising the internet about a week ago, I found this really cute banner and class being offered by Donna Salazar . Such a cute little "Dream" banner. Got me thinking.... what a cute idea for my 2nd Guest room. A very sweet lady, (Hi Bette and thanks again!), gifted me a lovely full size white iron bed. Its going to be the focal point of the room. Found some really cute bedding on E-bay, a cute little rug from Ross and using some old photographs, vases, etc. I'm transforming the room into the cutest little guest room you ever saw! Now, on to the banner..... And here is how this adorable banner looks all put together. And look at these! Yesterday's trip to Ross "scored" me a couple of really cute vases with a rose on them. $8.99.... gotta LOVE that price! ...

Guest Room Fix-up

It was one of the largest and quickest jobs we've done in this house since we moved in. When my son let us know he was coming we told him, "sure, the room will be ready in 8 short days." We made up a list of what to do each evening. I say evening because the rest of the day was each of us working our "1st jobs". Following the outline we tackled the daily list each day. First it was cleaning the room out, then spackling and painting followed by new hardware on the door and closets. Next, the floor was sanded and re-varnished. While the varnish was drying, we went furniture shopping. Guess what? We were told white furniture was on the way out. Good for us! It meant for bargains on everything. We spent Monday and Tuesday putting on the finishing touches; blinds, new electrical sockets and covers, fine detail painting near the ceiling and new pulls on the fan. Wednesday, we woke up to rain... rain with furniture being delivered! But the skies dried up just long enou...

Locked IN!

We have been in the process of painting and refurnishing one of the kids bedrooms into a guest room. I say process because it has been that. It took my daughter 6 months to move totally out, and totally out just happened 2 days ago. My son and his wife are coming for Thanksgiving and had no where to stay and we said we'd get it all fixed up................ in 8 days! That means cleaning, painting, redoing the wood floors, shopping and furnishing because after Tiffany moved out, there was quite a bit of damage done. You know teenagers! We made a list and every night have something to do with a deadline being Wednesday before Thanksgiving. The walls have been painted a really nice shade of sage green and last night was painting the trim and closet bright white. I worked for HOURS painting and taping off the walls and still didn't get it done. So today, I was going to tackle it. My grandson was over but I thought, "Hey, I can do this!" So I had him bring some toys in the...
