When my husband and I were first married, we lived the military life; moving every couple of years, long periods of time apart, fear that they would be called into service in an area where death is a daily happening. We did travel and see the world, shopped at th...

Weekend Update

When Beckie came to pick Scott up on Friday evening, we went outside to pick some Ollieberries (yum yum!). The berries are SO good right now, IF you pick the black ones. Scott was a "Picking Wonder" and although we kept telling him, "pick the black ones only", he picked and ate red, black and sometimes even green. These bushes are LOADED with berries and unfortunately, lots of bermuda grass. We started picking out the grass which turned into a Saturday morning clean up of the berry bed and another area where we hope to put in a couple of 4 x 4 square foot gardening beds. Yup, we are going to TRY and grow some fresh veggies over the summer. Good exercise and good food. In the afternoon, we took a drive to run errands and take some pictures. Here are a couple of roadside shots I took. Then, Wes and I finished a job that we had been working on all week... cleaning up the kitchen and putting in new under the counter lighting. The lights are up and this week we are putti...

A Tribute To Mothers....

Music by Marc Allen (visit blip.tv ) I'm such a lucky person to be able to experience motherhood. For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a momma. My dolls were my first "children" and I remember feeding them with bottles of disappearing milk and putting them down for their naps in the little metal crib. I changed their diapers, wrapped them in their little blankets and held them each day as long as I could, relishing in their "momma's" as they were tipped over just right. My older sister's daughter was my first experience with a REAL baby. Even though I was just 11 years old, I took on my share of the night time feedings, diaper changes and babysitting, pretending every moment I was with her that I was her mom. She was such a sweet baby, full of smiles and laughter, dressed all in pink and toddling around in her little white shoes. When I married 7 years later, motherhood was something I wanted to rush into with arms wide open. Before our first An...

The Chance To Begin Anew

" A New Day" Painting by Pieter Wagemans Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending. ~Carl Bard Did you ever stop to think about all the mistakes you've made in this lifetime? Some were big, some small, some you didn't even know WERE mistakes until time had passed. Then there were those mistakes that actually worked serendipitously FOR us. Which ones do you live over and over? I like that we don't have to be "stuck" in our yesterday's unless we choose to be. Each day opens wide with new possibilities, new choices and progress to be made in our lives. If we don't like the direction we are heading, we have the ability to make a new start and go in an entirely different direction. Freeing isn't it? So, if you are unhappy with where you find yourself today, there's no better time than the present to begin writing a "brand new ending!" Think I'll have to stop p...

Answer the Question: Where Would You Wish To Wake Up Tomorrow??

Intriguing question, isn't it? While surfing the web, I found this site called " 50 People, 1 Question " that posts a question and makes a video of their responses. The music is mesmerizing, the people are genuine and the questions are thought provoking. Here is the most recent question, "Where would you wish to wake up tomorrow?" Fifty People, One Question: Brooklyn from Fifty People, One Question on Vimeo . What would YOUR response be? I think if I could wake up anywhere tomorrow, I would have to say some place like this.... Yosemite Valley. I can almost smell the Redwoods, feel that cool, clean breeze on my face and feel the calm beginning to settle in. Oh, and maybe I'd have to be enjoying it with just my hubby and no other tourists...keeping it peaceful and quiet. How about you? Leave some comments about where you'd like to wake up tomorrow, and be sure to take a look at that video.

Pismo Beach Featured in Westways Magazine!

My new Westways arrived in the mailbox yesterday and had a page featuring a Day Trip to Pismo Beach. (pg. 30 if you get the magazine) If you don't get the magazine, I'll try to put up some of the most interesting things from the article. First the map from the downtown area with featured places to visit highlighted. The first catagory covered was places to EAT. They suggested (1) Old West Cinnamon Rolls. 1861 Dolliver Street. Follow the smell of just baked cinnamon rolls and inside you will hear the rolls are "the best in the world." (2) Steamers of Pismo Beach . 1601 Price Street. Known for its panoramic ocean view and award-winning clam chowder and some of the tastiest fish and chips in town. And (3) Rosa's Italian Restaurant . 491 Price Street. Try the thin-crust pizza with Italian sausage, salami, and green pepper. Be sure to save room for the tiramisu. Next, there were the places to PLAY. Number (4) is Hotlix. 179 Pomeroy Avenue. Kown for its ...
