"Te Amo"

When Kristen & Wes were preparing for their wedding, they asked me to make earrings for the Bridesmaids. They were relatively simple, two eggplant colored pearls separated with a little Swarovski Crystal band on a wire wrapped head pin. It had probably been two years since I made ANY jewelry at all, so I promised I'd try.



Well, it was like riding a bicycle, you don't forget how....and they turned out really cute. It gave me the bug to make something else. so, while my husband was out of town, I decided to make a bracelet with matching earrings.

First, I went to Michael's to get just a few new beads. Hey! I used a coupon AND the beads were on sale. The first set was a large lentil shaped green and brown bead, and the second was a larger rondel brown bead that almost looked like wood. My completed bead tray contained these two new beads plus some small green Swarovski crystals, round jade beads, various silver bead caps and beads, heart charms and a heart and arrow toggle closure and just a few topaz colored Swarovski crystals for accents.

Planning on beginning the bracelet the next morning, I sat down to a little TV and what should come up? Moonstruck. I LOVE that movie.... opera, Italian, food and one of my favorite lines, "Te Amo mi piccolo angelo." Te Amo, I love you, the perfect name for a bracelet with tiny hearts on it.

Here is the finished bracelet and earring set. I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out. More than likely, it will be a Christmas gift. The little butterfly is a charm that says, "Created Just For You."

Grave's Disease

The Picture - Half Empty or Half Full? Many of you who know me know I've been fighting a battle with Graves' Disease for about a year and a half. It was diagnosed in February of 2007. I was so very sick back then I actually thought I was going to die! One of the main symptoms was a rapid heartbeat and mine was probably 110 beats a minute. I was put on Methimazole, about 40 mg. per day to knock down the worst of the symptoms. That has gradually been reduced until now my dose is 5 mg. a day. Week 7: A Valentine's Pie To Remember!

Back with Week #7 of my 52 weeks of pie! Like most of us, I wanted to create a really beautiful pie, well actually a tart, especially for my Valentine, Wes. It had to be chocolate, decadent and beautiful all at the same time. After looking high and low on the internet for something good, I decided on THIS wonderful Salted Caramel Chocolate Tart featured on the Frayed Apron Blog. I mean, look at her picture! Who wouldn't want to make and eat this??!! (From the Frayed Apron Blog) Now, you may say a Tart isn't a Pie but it actually is. It has a crust and a filling so in my book, its a VARIETY of pie. Over the course of my "52 Weeks of Pie," you will see tarts, pies and galettes, a free form type of pie. So keep checking back, you'll be glad you did! The first different thing for me was the crust. Kristen's Bridal Shower

This past Saturday, we Weems women and Kristen's mom, Nancy, gave Kristen a Bridal Shower. The weather was downright HOT but the show had to go on. We ate a fabulous buffet, played games, opened gifts and had a really rich cake for dessert. A big thank you to all who helped! First, Nancy and Tim for providing their home and the delicious food. Nancy's sisters, April and Betty, for the beautiful arrangement of food and flowers. Rebecca McKenzie for making cute little party favors and the "Famous Spouse" game and prize. Tiffany, for a fun Bridal Candy Game complete with fabulous chocolate candy bars of ALL kinds. And Melody, for taking on the Bouquet Game and her scented Bath & Body Gift.
