Being Thankful

December 1, 2008, I found a post by Christine Kane about choosing a word to be a touchstone for the year...I chose the word Gratitude. At the end of each day, I would make a mental review of all the things, small and large that had happened in that 24 hour period, and offer my solemn thanks.

Here we are, arriving once again at a Global recognition of gratitude, Thanksgiving. As we gather around the table to feast with friends and family, I will be thinking of all the bounty this year has brought to me. Maybe when you choose your word, the Universe lines up to make sure there will be plenty of opportunities to use it. Or perhaps just by adopting a touchstone word, you become more aware of the times it shows up in a day. Either way, I've NEVER had a year so full and overflowing with fun, excitement, events, and growth in my personal life! There was seldom a dull moment! It makes me excited to be thinking of my "Word of the Year."

How about you? What word defines you or would you LIKE to have define your upcoming year? Drawing a blank? Skip on over to Christine's post and maybe you can find a word on her list to inspire you. In the next few days I will let you know the word I chose.

These are a few I've been thinking about.... Re-new, Re-Create, Re-joice, Re-member, Re-lease, Re-Unite, Re-group, Re-surrect....I like the "Re" part of these words; parts of me I may have lost along the way that I am attempting to Re-find. Those closest to me know that in the last 5 years of being helpful to others I have had a temporary pause on my life's forward journey. Well, I'm re-ady to re-embark on my delayed progress and I'm very, VERY excited!

If you come up with any words for me relating to this experience I would LOVE to hear them. Please leave a comment!

Hey Retirement! Don't take OUR Date Night Away!!

"Wait! Did we budget for Date Night??"

Wednesday night is Date Night at our house. It's been that way for a LONG time! And we didn't want retirement to do away with our weekly fun. So today, I'm going to cover some good ways to keep that fun coming and be able to pay for it with slightly reduced funds.
Put some money in the budget. Analyze what you can afford and how many times you will be going out during the month. If you get paid twice a month, budget for two date nights. If you get paid weekly, you only need to budget it in for the week. For us, we are getting paid once a month so we will budget for 4 to 5 nights out. We set aside about $20 to $25 per week for date nightRemember, it's about spending time together not how fancy the dining is. You can make a picnic one week and then spend double the following week at a nice place. You can make dinner at home and go to see a play or movie. In our case we could go to the beach with some hot dogs, potato chips a…

Baby Shower Busy-ness

Ok, you probably thought I fell off the face of the earth right? Nope, there is just alot happening around here. The next event is Beckie's Baby Shower this Sunday. Decided to make my very first Diaper Cake and these are just a few of the pictures.

The first thing I did was watch about 20 YouTube videos describing how to do it. Then I bought my supplies and put it together roughly first then more refined about a day later. This is a close up of the baby sock roses with mitten leaves. Yes, that video DOES exist!

Next is a close up of wrist rattles and a little caterpiller radio that makes soothing sounds for baby. Background ribbon is from WalMart and the blanket set is from the Jungle Adventure Collection at K-mart.

The topper for our "Jungle" themed cake is a Silver Back Ganz Gorilla.

These little links slipped easily over the ribbon and added a little extra bling to the sides of the cake.

Each layer consists of diapers along with extras like washcloths, burp pads and Ones…

Oui Yogurt by Yoplait. Simply DELICIOUS!

Have you guys tried OUI yogurt yet?

OH MY GOSH YOU HAVE TO!! It is DELICIOUS!
This isn't the first jar I've had. Last month we discovered this yogurt at our .99 Store in San Luis Obispo and they were selling it 2 for $1. Yes, you read that right and I'm almost scared to state that on here for fear it will cause a run on the store! I know you guys think that if it's in a .99 Store, something must be wrong with it, but that isn't so. These are in date, sealed properly and absolutely perfect.

Oui yogurt, made by General Mills and Yoplait, currently comes in comes in eight flavors: strawberry, blueberry, black cherry, vanilla, coconut, lemon, peach, and plain. The yogurt is also non-gmo, gluten free and lightly sweetened with cane sugar in the fruited varieties. It is made using whole milk rather than reduced or no fat, a long culturing time and two kinds of fermenting cultures; L. Bulgaricus and S. Thermophilus. I've tried all of the flavors over the last couple of mon…
